Useful Perspective

On Saturday at dinner, many people were at our table. There were people of all ages, even kids and newborns. Some people are bothered by kids, but their energy and playfulness are contagious. I got to spend the night saying hi and talking to many people.

At some point during the night, I was talking about my future with a good friend. I am starting lots of big projects that will require money, time, and consistency, so I was sharing my worries with him. I was advised to avoid marriage and to avoid kids since they could be an obstacle to my plans. I remember my friend saying, “They prevent you from reaching your prime”.

Well, I was called to be salt, and I want to share a different perspective on having kids. I didn’t come to this perspective myself; I am adopting it from wiser people because I’ve seen it work magic.

As a parent, I feel called to be an example at all times. You can’t hide, and you can’t pretend forever. To me, that is the biggest inspiration to accomplish hard things in life without feeling like kids are a burden. Love for your family is a powerful positive force.
